Having chosen your topic of interest, you will need to read very widely to determine who else has written on your chosen topic and what they said. You will need to read academic sources and provide a synopsis of the key theoretical arguments available. The literature you read will influence the topic which you may have to tweak and realign depending on the literature you have read. Ideally, you want to conduct research on what seems to be a gap in the available literature. This strengthens the need for your research.
